Can You Make Jerky In The Oven

Transfer the beef and marinade to a large saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
Drying out your meat to create jerky is an ancient cooking process that increases the shelf life of the meat and adds a delicious and unique flavor and texture to your steak. When you start to see rolling bubbles reduce the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes. My oven will only go as low as 170. Then test for texture and continue baking if needed.
This will result in a slightly different texture of the jerky as compared to other production methods. When you re ready to start cooking preheat the oven to 170. Step 5 remove the liver jerky from the oven and transfer to a paper bag. 9 after 10 minutes turn your oven down to 160 or as low as it will go and prop the door open.
You can choose to lower the heat as low as 200 degrees fahrenheit. While most people typically purchase their beef jerky at the store you can also make it in your oven. Set your oven to dry your beef meat at 170 degrees fahrenheit. Roll the top closed and store at room temperature in a dry location with good air circulation where the jerky will keep indefinitely.

Most kitchen ovens don t go lower than 170f or so. When oven drying you can place strips directly on the oven racks but put a layer of heavy duty foil on the bottom to catch any drips. I bake my jerky in a 300 degree fahrenheit preheated oven for about an hour and a half. When preparing beef meat jerky in a dehydrator you should dry at around 145 degrees fahrenheit to achieve properly dried jerky.
If you don t have a smoker or the weather isn t cooperating you can still whip up a batch of beef jerky in the oven without sacrificing that wonderful smoky. In the kitchen oven you will have to settle with the lowest setting available. Of course if you do that it will take you longer to dry the jerky probably between 2 4 hours. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 2 to 3 hours or until the liver jerky strips are thoroughly dried.
Bake the beef jerky for 3 4 hours until it reaches your desired texture.
