Single use plastic is a particularly nasty form of plastic.
Straws and other plastics pose a threat to plants and animals because they are not biodegradable meaning they cannot be broken down naturally. Plastic straws create a huge problem when they are improperly disposed. Like other plastics they never biodegrade and take hundreds of years to break down.
