These included mercury venus mars jupiter and saturn. Also there are certain mantra s of planets to get the blessings or ease the negatives. The other three planets. Ancient india had long before known of planets and had names thousands and thousands of years before romans even walked this earth.
Although the roman name for the god sky was caelus the latin spelling of the greek name ouranos was uranus. The name earth is an english german name which simply means the ground. Venus is the roman counterpart to the greek goddess aphrodite it is believed venus was named for the most beautiful of. Mars was the roman god of war.
Pluto which is now classified as a dwarf planet was the roman god of the underworld. The names we use today for the innermost planets were assigned by the romans and they named them after their gods. I call uranus a modern planet because being unseen by the naked eye this planet was unknown to the ancients. Jupiter the solar system s biggest planet was named for the king of the roman gods while the reddish color of the planet mars led the romans to name it after their god of war. Venus was named after the roman goddess of love and beauty. Neptune was the roman god of the sea.
