That s why most ladybug infestations occur during the fall months. That means they re searching for someplace warm and dry where they can wait out the cold season and our cozy homes are perfect for those purposes.

I use to like ladybugs when i was a kid but i have never seen so many and as an adult i don t like being swarmed with so many and seeing them covering my house like they are. Ladybugs release pheromones it is sort of like perfume to attract other ladybugs. They are attracted to light colored homes usually older homes and they are attracted to heat that the homes reflect. Remember ladybugs are good luck so don t kill them.

Having a light colored house may be a big reason why you see so many ladybugs inside. Most complaints of ladybug infestations are caused by the asian lady beetle which was introduced into many regions of the u s. Other then that you can use your vaccum to suck them up. When one finds a suitable spot in the fall it produces a pheromone that attracts others so it is common to find dozens if not hundreds at a time.
As it turns out the ladybugs are attracted to light colors including the color white. Once ladybugs have penetrated the home though they are hard to get rid of.
