The medical conditions that could cause pain under the left breast could be muscular gastrointestinal or cardiac in nature. Shooting pains under left breast can be a frightening experience but there are many reasons why this happens. This can occur as a result of bacterial viral or fungal pneumonia malignancy trauma or pulmonary infarction usually related to a blood clot in the lung. A traumatic injury to the left side of the chest could cause inflammation of the bones muscles ligaments or cartilage in the chest cavity which in turn may give rise to pain.
The pain is usually sharp due to a fractured or sprained rib or muscle of the chest wall. And that s in addition to the left lung left breast and left kidney which actually sits higher in the body than the right one. Sharp stabbing pains under your left breast could be caused by heartburn stress gastritis or even too much gas. There can be inflammation if the body is fighting to heal an injury and it may also cause pain in the left side of the chest.
Other lower chest pains can be momentary and be sharp and uncomfortable. Pleurisy on the left side may cause. It is caused by stomach acid that travels up the esophagus and irritates the esophageal mucosa. Pain related to the esophagus may feel more like a burning pain and you may have associated symptoms of an acidic taste in your mouth.

Heart burn is a common cause of chest pain particularly beneath the left breast. If it s below your left breast it can be caused by injuries cysts or something more serious.
