Why Do People Wear Converse To The Gym
Olivia Luz
They are designed to look similar to converse shoes because they really are what we need.
My shades and shoes are the art pieces that cause people to stare at me 3 5 seconds longer than usual or do a double take at my outfit. Overall yes they are actually great for the gym especially if you are lifting with a barbell. But for people trying to lift weights they don t work too well. Converse are a low cut style that practically screams ankle sprain particularly when running and jumping.
You really don t want your feet shifting around when you ve got 400 lbs on your back. Many people wear running shoes to the gym which is fine if you re running. Never wear trainers to do lifting. I ve read all the recommendations of them on the boards but i can t say they give me any kind of extra leverage and i cannot say they ve helped in any strength gains.
It s better to get actual running shoes such as nike adidas new balance. Wear flat sole shoes like converse or better yet if you can train barefoot not always possible. I wear chucks as my full time gym shoes. They know what they re doing.

Converse actually aren t good running shoes from what i ve heard. If you re running or doing jumps or cross training type of stuff then they wouldn t be good for your ankles. Running my guess is that it doesn t actually matter though the research will tell you that you need cushioning etc perhaps but i am weary of this stuff even if these studies claim to be independent and not funded by those with interest in showing a certain. Their flat soles make them more flexible and allow for a wider range of movements making them great for aerobics weight training and multidirectional workouts like kickboxing.
It s because it s sturdy on the sole and flat. Because of this i have a ton of colors in my closet that are really difficult to match with a great pair of shoes except converse. A lot of lifters like to squat and deadlift in converse because it s a flat incompressible sole which provide stability especially with heavy weights.
