Why Do We Have Lines On Our Palms
Olivia Luz
Why do we have so many lines on our palms.
Scientifically speaking however the lines on a palm or palmar flexion creases help the hand s skin stretch and squeeze. These creases help in folding the skin on your hand when you change its shape say when you make a fist or bend your hands. When you clench or open your hand these palm lines serve as an avenue for the skin fold or bunch up. While it may seem not it the primary function of the palmar flexion creases is to aid the skin s aid in squeezing and stretching.
The lines on our palms are known as palmar flexion creases and they re there to help us fold stretch squeeze scrunch and do other such things without excessively stretching or squeezing the skin on the hands. Creases to be more specific and are also required to divide your palm into sections for flexion.
