Why Doesn T Super Glue Stick To The Bottle
Olivia Luz
Traces of water are found on almost everything and in the surrounding air which causes the glue to become sticky.
Glue normally doesn t stick to the inside of the bottle because it needs air or water vapor to set and strongly adhere to another object. Some types of glue require a chemical other than those found in air. If you leave the cap off of the bottle or as the bottle gets closer to empty so that more air is inside the bottle the glue will get stickier. They are called pet bottles nature of plastic does not allow bond with super glue even the labels on water bottles are bonded with themselves extending the own surface.
The plastic of bottle is having such surface tension that does not allow the bond to take place. Therefore the lack of water in the tube or the chance of solvents evaporation doesn t allow the glue to stick to the tube. It works best in moist conditions although it is not advised to start gluing on a soaking wet surface.
