Why Don T Aquariums Have Great White Sharks
Olivia Luz
Sharks in aquariums have been recorded as refusing to eat.
By the 2000s the only group still trying was the monterey bay aquarium which spent a decade planning its white shark program. This is because great whites exclusively eat live prey. Then we have the case of the shark in japan in 2016 which died after 3 days. The monterey bay.
But unfortunately the sharks did not survive. Great whites only eat scraps when they are desperate and their depressed state in. In 2004 they released a shark after 6 months because it killed 2 other sharks. Institutions all over the world have repeatedly tried to stick great white sharks into captivity.
But unfortunately the sharks did not survive. But not one has a great white shark on display. In an aquarium these capacities are unfortunately confused by the environment itself for example the glass walls noisy public electronic devices etc. Basically there are two main reasons great whites aren t kept in captivity.

If you have ever wondered why there are no great white sharks in aquariums it s not for a lack of trying. Aquariums have made dozens of attempts since the 1970s to display a captive great white shark. Sensory fog is another problem that could affect great white sharks. And most importantly the sharks die quickly outside of the oceans no matter what zookeepers do.
Attempts at captivity and display surged in the 1970s when great white sharks were advertised at sea world and other major aquariums around the world. It takes an insane amount of resources for the aquarium to pull. Great whites have a very sharp sensory perception which allows them to detect very subtle changes in their environment. With attempts at captivity and display surging in the early 70s great white sharks were advertised at major aquariums around the world but the sharks unfortunately would usually not survive.
