Why Is My Face Breaking Out All Of A Sudden Pregnancy
Olivia Luz
Acne is common during pregnancy.
Though every skin type is different breakouts are mainly triggered by hormones and the overproduction of oil. Two things conspire to cause breakouts which tend to hit sometime around week 6 of pregnancy. Try cleaning your face with an over the counter face soap in the morning and evening. Bacteria can also get trapped.
When we are stressed we release cortisol hormones. Basically hormones ramp up your oil under the skin which clogs your hair follicle. This may be caused by hormones if you re getting close to your menstrual cylce or it could be that your makeup or moisturizer is to blame. It can be a combination of things such as increased stress poor sleeping habits and eating too much junk food.
An increase in the level of the hormone progesterone will cause the sebaceous glands to increase the amount of sebum that it secretes. If you start out with a fresh face and then by afternoon see pimples and blackheads showing up check the ingredients in your makeup and moisturizing products. In fact more than half of pregnant people can expect to develop acne. Many of my patients complain about this during pregnancy.

Also there is extra blood flow to the face when pregnant so redness and rashes could be a result of that. As we discussed earlier hormonal fluctuations are one of the main culprits leading to breakouts. The cause of your acne doesn t need to be isolated. Hormone surges of course in this case progesterone which causes your glands to increase acne causing secretions of oil called sebum can clog up pores and cause bacteria to build up leading to breakouts.
One of the reasons is hormone surges. Cystic acne is when you have large red painful breakouts deep in your skin. Pregnancy acne is a skin breakout in pregnant people possibly caused by hormone changes.
