Depending on the size of the box of pasta you are using this is generally around 4 cups of water.
The sauce may be a little bit starchy but not noticeably so and if you prefer you can cook the sauce on top of the pasta pot in pot and use more water and drain it. This is not recommended by the instant pot makers however so i have no liability here. To cook pasta in an instant pot you just need to add all of your ingredients and set the timer. Add any seasonings you like such as garlic powder or oregano.
First pour a box of pasta and your chosen sauce into the instant pot. You can also use your instant pot to cook pasta however there is no way to ensure it will come out perfectly al dente. Honestly unless you don t have the option boiling the pasta in a pot on a stovetop is just as. While you technically can cook pasta in an instant pot it may come out gummy or unevenly cooked.
No need to strain the pasta after it s done because the pasta will absorb all of the water as it cooks. Once you ve added everything pour in enough water to cover your ingredients. Set it and forget it. Close the instant pot lid and set the valve to sealing position.

If the pasta doesn t fit in a pot like spaghetti break it in half so it fits. Completely hands off cooking because you don t need to stir frequently and watch for boil over. Do a quick release when it s done.
