Calamine lotion is a drying agent and will only make your dog more dry.
My suggestion is to use a product called avon skin so soft in your dogs bath water or you can mist it on the skin and fur. Part the hair of your dog and find the spot where the insect bit it. You can grind plain oatmeal and combine it with water to make a paste and then spread it onto your dog s skin. It is not safe to put calamine lotion on your dog therefore you should never use it.
