Bleach is not the only cleaner that can mar stainless steel. Bleach isn t a very good drain cleaner but it does disinfect your drain. Dirty water and cleaning solutions can leave a residue that can stain and damage the surface so don t forget to rinse and dry. Check the chemical compatibility of stainless steel with various chemicals solvents alcohols and other products.
Stainless steel is easily scratched and using abrasive cleaning products will harm and dull the finish. Some tap water can be harsh and leave spots or stains. Don t use steel wool or scrub brushes on stainless steel. Steel wool scrubbing pads and steel bristle brushes as well as products containing grit can scratch your stainless steel.
Do not use cleaning sprays or solutions that contain bleach. Don t leave dirty water and cleaning solution residues to dry on your stainless steel. It will create a dull finish and could leave permanent stains. Bleach will stain and damage stainless steel.

Bleach will stain and damage stainless steel. If not i could always stick with pbw. It s a stainless steel keg. In fact you shouldn t use it in any sink no matter the material if the sink has a stainless steel drain strainer or chrome p trap.
Putting salt in a stainless steel pot containing water before heating it can cause pitting of the metal. Stay away from harsh abrasives when cleaning stainless steel. While it may be second nature to bleach everything stainless steel and chlorine do not mix. However the bleach and stainless steel reaction mitigates against using it in a stainless steel sink.
So the message that we are trying to get across is that you should never use bleach to clean anything that is made of stainless steel. Bleach and cleaners with chlorine will stain and damage stainless steel. Can i use bleach at all on my keggle. Pitting is irreversible and can lead to spots of rust later.
