Do not use a triple antibiotic cream or vaseline on a new tattoo.
Havent had any problems yet. In order for a tattoo to heal properly it must heal naturally from the inside out. Antibiotic creams will fade your tattoo very quickly as will vaseline. This is further explained in the tattooing process article.
Triple antibiotic cream such as neosporin will help the area heal but it d purpose is to get rid of infection or what. I just got a tat on monday and i have been using trip antibiotic ointment. Petroleum jelly traps moisture and bacteria which can lead to infections and scarring if your tattoo doesn t get enough air while it s healing. You should never use neosporin or any other form of triple antibiotic ointment on a new tattoo.
Vaseline isn t the best choice for tattoo aftercare. No you must not use a triple antibiotic ointment on tattoos. Neosporin is the most common brand name triple antibiotic ointment. However it has the same key ingredients as generic versions.

If the triple antibiotic ointment is too strong for you skin use bacitracin ointment. Id say it is ok. You shouldn t use any type of triple antibiotic ointments on a new. You can use an antibiotic ointment but you shouldn t use the triple variety because it may damage the skin more.
Why treat a new tattoo. Keep clean and use bacitracin single or polysporin bacitracin and polymyxin double antibiotic ointment instead. After two weeks you can switch to skin cream or lotion. A d which is what they told me to use originally was causing skin irritation red bumps i think it was clogging my pores but when i started using triple antibiotic instead of a d they stopped.
