Why Do Babies Have More Bones Than Adults
Camila Farah
First in the case of humans as others have stated the skull bones of human ba.
A baby is born with around 300 bones whereas a grown adult has 206 bones. Why do babies have more bones than adults. So what happened to the rest. A baby s bones won t fully fuse together while they re a baby.
According to howstuffworks babies have more bones than adults because some infant bones are separate pieces that gradually fuse after birth. A baby s skeleton is mostly made up of cartilage. As your baby grows into childhood much of that cartilage will be replaced by actual bone. There is no debate that babies have a significantly higher number of bones than adults.
Babies have more bones than adults because as they grow up some of the bones fuse together to form one bone. So almost 1 3rd of their bones fuse together. New born babies have around 305 bones. They still have to develop and growth in all imaginable ways.

Others have answered this already. For example the skull is in several sections and the bones in the hands and feet are not joined properly. Infants whether human or not are not born at their final dimensions. Here s a fun fact.
Babies have more bones than adults the reason being that the bones have not fused yet. The difference between the total number of adult and baby bones is a relatively simple explanation. I think babies are born with 300 bones but by the time they are adults they have 206 bones. In addition newborns have cartilage that turns into bone over time.
At this point you ll have 206 bones that are as big as they will ever be. As you may know when a baby is born and for some time afterwards they have a soft spot on their head.
