In most cases lumps or nodules behind the ears are harmless. An infected body pore in the ear when blocked can easily develop into a painful pimple under your skin.
In acne pores in the skin become blocked with sebum. Ear lumps can be caused by exostoses and osteomas which are types of tumors that grow in the bones of the ear canal. Sebum is an oily substance secreted by units at the base of hair.
