Canker sores are very common and they are one reason for having white bumps or white spots on lips.
Oral thrush is a fungal infection that causes white lesions on the lips mouth gums or tonsils. Mostly these cysts are caused by an infection or after tooth extraction or a surgical procedure. These include antifungal and antiviral medications along with antibiotics. Doctors can prescribe medications to treat infections.
Normally if you have a lip piercing a bump can form around it or on its ring. Essentially the white spots or fordyce spots are enlarged sebaceous glands. The sebaceous gland produces oil called sebum which is released into a hair follicle to lubricate the skin around it. These bumps can appear on the inside of your upper or lower lip.
White spots on lips causes are a little technical so bear with us. White spots on lips may also be appear repeated trauma such as biting your lip or a physical injury to the face that can cause the skin to change or ulcers to form. You can recognize a canker sore because it will have a white center and red edge. A canker sore usually starts out as a tiny white spot on your lip and gradually becomes larger.
