Injuries to the tongue can be prevented by wearing mouth guards while playing sports eating slowly and being more aware of tongue placement. Sores or bumps caused by cancer usually appear on one side of the tongue and they are painless and hard to touch.
These little white or red bumps form when papillae become irritated and slightly swollen. Once diagnosed mouth cancer is treated via chemotherapy surgery or radiation.
