Why Do Mormons Cross Their Arms When They Pray
Olivia Luz
This has evolved i believe into crossing the arms with hands tucked in instead of on the shoulders which then evolved into something optional as the church attempts to distance itself from its masonic roots.
People often fold their hands or. We fold our arms to show reverence and respect to our heavenly father. Sorry to clutter up the foyer with my question but i ve been wondering about this for a few days. One of the most heretical teachings on the subject was taught through a speech delivered by bruce mcconkie in 1982 when he instructed mormons they should never pray directly to jesus or think they have some special relationship with him.
Reverence is an attitude of respect and love. I don t think it s nessecarily scriptural. Some of us latter day saints mormons do this others do not. In private they raise both arms high above the head and while lowering repeating the words oh god hear the words of my mouth repeated three times.
One of the traditions of freemasonry is to pray with one s arms in the sign of the good shepherd. We want to be in a reverent and humble attitude when we pray. Do mormons believe that jesus christ. But crossing the arms is not by any means mandatory.

Why do mormons have to fold their arms when they pray. It certainly contrasts against other religionists who for example hold hands around the table when they say grace. Mormons are taught not to go to the lord for trivial matters because their god is a busy guy. If you stay active in the church and if you stay reverent then it can become a habit.
Some just like to cross their arms because it s comfy but crossed arms can also show insecurity. Why am i teaching my kids to pray with their arms folded. Honestly you guys seriouselly need to get out more. Mormons only fold their arms when participating in the false order of prayer.
I guess i m trying to say that i d prefer to pray like dog the bounty hunter. The first is that prayer is meant to be a pleading with god and must show respect and reverence to him.
