On december 3 a nine day novena begins in honor of the virgin of guadalupe which ends on her feast day of december 12.
Christmas celebrations in mexico begin with posadas processions which take place on each of the nine evenings leading up to christmas eve nochebuena in spanish. Americans celebrate on december 25th.
