Why Does My Dog Wrap His Paws Around My Arm
Camila Farah
Maybe he s just hungry.
He just stays there and lets me pet and kiss him. Everytime she did it we slapped her paw not real hard and said no. A guilty pup may slip their owner the paw after doing something bad. A guilty dog may throw his paw on you while wearing a very guilty face.
If your dog is wrapping his paws around your arm that is generally a positive response of wanting some attention or probably wanting to play. If you find that your dog has associated pawing with mealtime make sure that he s not overdoing it. I have a 13 month old bobtail that does the same. If your dog is not humping your arm then you do not need to worry about it just give your dog the attention he or she needs.
Some dogs hold your arm or hand while you are petting them with one or both paws. While this pawing behavior can be quite demanding it can also be your pups way of apologizing for something they have done. He often does the same when we re laying in bed he ll come up to the pillow beside me and put his front paws on each of my shoulders. This can be a return of affection or your dog may be directing your hand to just where he wants to be scratched.

When he puts his paws on you you might interpret the act as an affectionate one. The next time your dog places his paw on your arm check the time or check his dish. Possible reasons why your dog wraps its paws around your arm are that it is looking for extra attention it makes it feel safer it has some anxiety or that it has learned that the behavior gets rewarded.
My dog does this when we are playing tug of war too. There seen to be several pet owners on here so i was wondering what it meant when my dog wraps her paws around my arm when i give her attention all the time. We will be covering these topics. If your dog has a habit of placing both of his paws on you when you re petting him however it could actually be a sign of dominance rather than tenderness.
I have always thought of it as her giving me a hug but recently a friend told me that that it is her showing that that is her being dominant over me i m not sure how this makes me feel. A doggie s furry touch is a warm cozy feeling.
