Why Does My Toddler Wake Up Crying From Naps
Olivia Luz
Lately my 13 month old baby wakes up crying from her regular afternoon nap almost every day.
They seem to cry a lot whenever they wake up from deep sleep or even short nap carrying this behavior even in their toddler years. First make sure that your child is getting enough sleep in general. Other common causes of night waking in previously good sleepers include illness separation anxiety or a looming developmental leap. The most common reason is simply the lack of sleep.
Night terrors happen as the brain transitions between sleep cycles which can cause a fear reaction in a toddler. Toddlers sometimes wake in the night screaming and crying because of night terrors. They cry because they are hungry chilling or feeling uncomfortable and disturbed. Always look for the reasons for crying and try to resolve them.
They aren t ready to wake up and if kept up after this wake up will often remain cranky until their next nap. I don t think it s due to hunger or lack of sleep she eats at 12 12 30 and is crying by 3 30 and sleeps 30 45 minutes in the morning and at least an hour of the afternoon nap sometimes 1 5 hrs. Infants and babies wake up crying because of several reasons. Sometimes she is inconsolable for 15 30 minutes or more.

Often especially in early infancy infants wake up mid nap crying because they don t yet know how to settle back to sleep as they transition through their sleep cycle usually about once every 45 90 minutes. In those cases there are a couple of things to try aside from treating the fever or throat or ear pain that s making a sick toddler uncomfortable. They will wake up moan cry appear distressed and inconsolable for up to 30 minutes it s also likely that your child isn t getting the quality sleep they need at night and or during naps. Feeding your baby after waking up also has an extra advantage.
Instead he needs you to feed him never mind that he s not hungry to calm him down. You don t have to worry about digestion issues during nap. If your toddler naps for a measly 30 45 minutes the entire day waking up can make for one cranky wake up. These occur in between sleep cycles and aren t actual dreams or nightmares according to the nemours foundation.
