The sand blowing back into your pool could be caused by possibly to much sand possibly a tear in one of the laterals if the filter has them or most likely a worn out spider gasket.

If your pool has a sand filter it goes without saying that the sand should stay in the filter. In our experience we ve seen this happen on most types of sand filters including in ground pools and above ground pools typically around the time that it is first set up or the stand is replaced. The most common problem is a cracked lateral which is one of the perforated pipes at the bottom of the filter that catches water that has circulated through the sand.
