Can You Use Tap Water In A Humidifier

Is it bad to use tap water in a humidifier.
These are composed of the minerals often found in tap water that have been left behind from the humidifying process. This is because tap water contains mineral deposits that promote the growth of mold and bacteria. Rinse before you refill the humidifier. Even though it s easy enough to go and run the tap and fill your humidifier with tap water the truth is that you should ideally use distilled water.
I use tap in a fogging humidifier and an evaporative humidifier no problem. Sure your humidifier won t instantly go haywire if you do use it but in the long term this can damage not only the machine but also your health. Tap water is safe to drink because it contains all essential minerals necessary for people s health. During this process lots of the minerals have been removed so it s a cleaner source for the humidifier unit.
These particles are the contaminants that are usually present in the regular tap water or hard water that comes directly from your supply. Unlike tap water distilled water has been through a process called distillation. Well first you can just use regular water in the humidifier and periodically descale it by filling with vinegar and leaving it to sit over night. You cannot put tap water in a humidifier even if the water is safe to drink.

Adding tap water in a humidifier is not a smart move. Reuse the vinegar in a marked jug or use for cleaning only. However it is precisely those minerals that are harmful to a humidifier.
