After a transition period the body will naturally adjust to the new environment. Exposure to light actually delays the release of melatonin a hormone that makes us feel tired. While it s normal for all of us to slow down over winter there are some medical conditions that could be causing your tiredness. Winter is a dark time so our bodies produce more melatonin in response.
So during the day try getting outside. As the days shorten the brain products more of the chemical compound melatonin a hormone that makes us feel more tired. This leads to excessive feelings of fatigue and tiredness. When winter comes days are shorter and the sunlight level is reduced thus our biological clock circadian rhythm needs a reset.
Because of this it s important to get exposure to more light during the day to gain the energy needed to make it through the dark late afternoon hours. Why am i tired in winter.
