Place corn directly on oven racks and bake for 30 minutes or until corn is bright yellow and tender.
Let cool 5 minutes then remove husks. Wrap each ear of corn loosely in foil then fold and pinch the sides together to create a seal. Roasting plain husked cobs in the oven creates the most caramelized corn in the oven but also makes for chewier drier corn. You can boil the corn on the stove.

Spread the butter over each ear of corn and wrap individually in foil. Pat dry with paper towels and place the corn on a baking sheet or right on the oven rack.

Serve warm with butter and black pepper. Use softened butter garlic salt pepper and a mixture of your favorite herbs such as rosemary thyme and parsley.
