It s much more effective however to create a dialogue with yourself so that you can hear what you think.
It s good for me. But excessive self talk can affect our mood and be a sign of stress or depression. So i try to listen more. I became aware that i talk about myself a whole lot and i ve tried to change that because i don t want anyone to think i m self centered.
Having to tell someone they talk about themselves too much is so uncomfortable. And think about it. In fact self talk can be a coping mechanism or a motivational tool in adults. But despite its value we learn at a young age that talking to ourselves is socially unacceptable.
I think that if i continue i ll actually start seeing people. Strangely this tendency to vocalise our internal dialogue seems to kick back in adulthood. It has started to scare me too because it all feels too real. Mostly it s just running through what i plan to do for the day or for the next hour but sometimes i talk things through with myself like what films and books i like and why.

Sometimes the reason why i talk so much is because to me silence is deafening and when we are not talking to me you re bored of being around me.
