Why Do We Eat When We Are Bored

Since we now know we want feel these positive emotions it makes sense that when we re bored we want to feel instead a positive emotion and we think that this positive emotion will come from food. However especially if you tend to drink coffee at about the same time and same place every day your brain learns that and compensates for it. So the next time you are feeling bored remember this study. We all feel that we should go on a diet or at least watch what we re eating.
But you can combat this. We are kind of hard wired to eat so just saying no to food can be a challenge. Coffee drinkers know all about how the body adapts. Nowadays eating is more an activity that breaks up the monotony and boredom of my seemingly similar days at home.
What is boredom eating. The bottom line is yes everybody eats when they are bored. Studies say that this happens because eating when bored is not driven by an increased desire for satisfying incentive stimulation but mainly by the drive to escape monotony. The thought this tastes so good could make you feel happy.

This is because eating when bored serves as a coping mechanism. In other words we will continuously snack because it makes us temporarily excited again and again. Snacking breaks up the monotony of our boredom raising our levels of dopamine. Maybe it will help you reach for something stimulating other than the cookie jar even if it s painful taxes anyone.
Cheese is another food known to spike dopamine so it s common to gravitate toward that as well ultimately the scientific study that indicates we eat solely to break the monotony tied with.
